We are located in the Red Top Plaza at 1420 S. Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville, IL. 60048.
We are approximately 1 1/2 miles north of Westfield Hawthorn Shopping Mall
on the east side of Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21).

How does your store work?
We buy and sell new and gently used brand name teen and young adult clothing
and accessories that have been in the stores in the last year to year and a half so that
they are current style and fashion. The items should not have any stains, holes, missing
buttons, zippers that don't work or are faded. The style of the item is most important.
The brand is used to determine how much we offer you for the item.
How much will I get for my clothes?
If we buy your clothes, you will receive 30-40% of what the item will sell for.
We base our prices on brand, item, age of label, condition, and our demand.
What sizes do you have/take?
We take juniors sizes 00 - 15/16 (UK 24-34) in bottoms and XS - XL in tops,
and men's waist sizes 28-38 and XS - XXL in tops.
Do you take children's clothing?
No, we don't take children's clothing.
Do you take prom dresses?
No, we only purchase casual dresses. We occasionally purchase tea length dresses.
Do I need an appointment to bring in my items?
You do you not need an appointment to bring things in, we purchase everyday
on a first come, first serve basis. We pay cash on the spot for any items we purchase.
We ask that you come at least an hour before we close so we have a chance to go through
your things before the end of the day. The average buy takes ten minutes per shopping bag;
how long it takes to process a buy depends on how many items you bring in and if there
are customers with buys before you. Please bring items in a shopping bag, bin, small box,
or laundry baskets (please, not on hangers, or in garbage bags!).
Are you only purchasing seasonal items?
We purchase all seasons of clothing all year long.
Do you take anything other than clothes?
Yes, we take inexpensive jewelry, purses, backpacks, shoes, belts, and scarves.
Do you pay on consignment?
No, we pay cash on the spot for the items we purchase. When we finish your buy we'll
let you now which items we are interested in and offer you a quote that has been created
by our computer system. If you accept the offer, we pay you on the spot. We give you back
any items we were unable to accept, along with a reason why we had to pass.
You also have the option to take your items back if you would prefer not to sell them.
Do you need to show an ID?
Yes, beginning August 15, 2011, the Libertyville Plato's Closet will require a
picture id if you are selling items to us. If you do not have a picture id,
we will be unable to purchase any of your items.
Do you have any other locations?
Yes, there are many other locations around Chicagoland. You can visit

Do you have a return policy? Can I return to another location?
Yes, you can return regular priced clothing items within ten days with the tag attached and your receipt for store credit in the form of a Plato's Closet gift card or an exchange. All sale items, shoes, accessories, jewelry, clearance and anything marked "as is" will be final sale. If you purchase from another Plato's Closet we will offer you an exchange or store credit in the form of a Plato's Closet gift card for non-sale clothing items (sorry, no refunds will be given).
